the waiting game

I am not a patient person. IVF has taught me this.

So, I went in for today's ultrasound. Things are still looking good: 13 follicles developing very well - just not as quickly as I would like. My initial calendar put the 'best guess' retrieval date at tomorrow; as of last week, they were guessing Wednesday; now it's a 50/50 between Thursday and Friday. None of this is bad, unless you are like me and have a hard time with the "wait and see" thing, and also when you are feeling pretty bloated and would like to hand over these little dudes ASAP.

Lining is 10.2mm - good. Follicles are mostly between 14-15, with one at 20 and a few at 11 - good. Apart from the bloating, I feel - good.

Except for the waiting. Control freaks, take note: IVF is in charge, now.

  1. Thanks for the well wishes. I'm happy to report things went so smoothly this morning & I'm feeling great..the drugs may not have worn off quite yet:) I completely understand what you wrote, I wrote a very similar post a week or so ago...I'm also a bit of a control freak & the waiting involved with IVF was driving me a bit berserk too! Can't wait to hear how things go at your retreival!!!

  2. What a beautiful thick lining you have! Before IF, could you imagine another woman commenting on the thickness of your uterine lining? Wow.

  3. Don't you hate the waiting? I was 4 days late my last cycle - it made me crazy! But slow does not mean bad -so hang in there best you can, keep growing those follies!

  4. I found it hard not knowing cause it made it hard to arrange for time of work. I know that should have been the least of my worries, but it totally irked me. At least those follicles are doing well. Hope the bloat doesn't get much worse.

  5. Yes, the waiting is very, very hard. Still, it sounds like it is going well, if only a little slow. I'm really hopeful for you this time around.
