sigh of relief

We have a baby.

Insert huge sigh of relief here.

The doctor scared us a bit at first, when the first thing out of his mouth was, "well, that's odd," but it turns out that both embryos implanted and one didn't develop. "Do we have one or two?" asked my husband. "Well, one and a half," said the doctor, and then explained, but our momentary disappointment (I was mostly relieved, to be honest) was quickly eclipsed by the one very healthy, perfectly-measuring, 152 bpm-heart-beating baby in sac A. We even got a little photo, complete with an arrow pointing as if to say, "THIS IS YOUR BABY." This is helpful, because right now, it looks more like a gummy bear.

Measuring right on track at 7 1/2 weeks, and due on October 28th.

Seeing the heartbeat really is amazing. Wow. I think this is actually happening.

  1. WOW! Congrats. The first ultrasound is AMAZING! Sorry both didn't implant and continue to grow, but I'm so happy that one is. I always wanted a fall/Halloween baby. Glad you're having one. :)

Oh and I wanted to tell you I was thinking about you today when I watched G&B too. I wanted to smack G. I won't spoil it for you though in case you haven't watched. Can't wait to hear your rundown of her drama.

Glad all is well on your end.

The two sac thing happened to me last time as well- I bet it is more common than your doc lead on--
I am very very happy for your right-on-target gummi bear-
I stalked you as often as I could all afternoon, hoping hoping.

Wonderful good news! and here's to 8 more uneventful perfectly normal months!

congratulations, truly, on your great news.

    warmly,
    Kate

  6. Yay! Congrats! Isn't the heartbeat amazing!? It took my breath away!

I had the two sac thing happen as well and I'm still saddened that it didn't take. We transferred two that were developing exactly the same... for some reason only Kasen made it. (We didn't have any embryos make it to freeze, either.)

I actually liked the gummi bear stage a lot, but it is even better when they start to look more and more human.

  18. WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course I'm sorry about the one that didn't quite make it, but thrilled that you have a good strong heartbeat in there! Your patience is impressive, and you're right to work on your "waiting" skills... pregnancy tests those more than anything I've ever experienced.
